For this retro-style shoot everything seemed perfect.
Great location, stunning models, brilliant big-boys-toys props. The only problem with the runway location at an old WWII airfield in the UK - No power!
Not a problem with the Bowens Explorer 1500 battery generator. In these shots two packs were used to provide the energy to three powerful Quad flash-heads - together with two 120° wide-angle reflectors and a Softstrip 100 for effect.
The shot was set-up quickly - being a typical British summers day, dark and brooding storm clouds were gathering on the horizon - the flawless operation of the Explorer generators and perfect performace of the models, despite the cold! meant that the whole shoot was complete before anyone needed to get wet.
Of course, with up to 180 shots at 1200Ws available from the Explorer on a single charge we could have gone on much longer!
